Patrick J. Maher

Senior Counsel Dallas

Patrick Maher is senior counsel in the Dallas office of Ogletree Deakins.  He received a B.S. with highest honors from the University of Santa Clara and a J.D. with high honors from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was a Note & Research Editor on the Texas Law Review. 

After graduation, Mr. Maher clerked for Judge Joseph Sneed on the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.  Mr. Maher is Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.  He is a past Chair of the State Bar of Texas Labor & Employment Law Section and of the Tarrant County Bar Labor & Employment Law Section. He previously served as Chair of the Council of Section Chairs and as a Section Representative to the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas. 

Mr. Maher is a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Law Attorneys.  He has lectured extensively on employment law topics for such organizations as the State Bar of Texas, the Tarrant County and Dallas County Bar Associations, the University of Texas, and the University of Houston.  He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Chisholm Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Board of Trustees of the University of Dallas, and the Board of Directors of the Tarrant County Bar Association.  Mr. Maher has been designated as a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly Magazine (2003-2016), a Top Lawyer in Tarrant County by Fort Worth, Texas Magazine (2003-2016), and as one of the Best Lawyers in America (Woodward/White 2006-16).


Experience

35 years of experience practicing labor & employment law.  He has handled scores of individual and class action lawsuits in state and federal courts in Texas and California, as well as hundreds of administrative proceedings before the EEOC, DOL, OFCCP, OSHA, Texas Workforce Commission, and California Department of Fair Employment and Housing.  Mr. Maher has handled multiple noncompetition and trade secret lawsuits.  He has advised numerous employers with respect to employment policies and practice. Mr. Maher is experienced in the preparation of numerous employment agreements.
