Abigail (Abby) partners with her clients to provide day-to-day practical and strategic advice on nearly every aspect of the employment relationship from hire to separation, assisting employers with the daily management of employment issues, and counseling on best practices. She also routinely revises employee handbooks, policies, and agreements to ensure that clients remain compliant with applicable laws. While Abby serves employers across multiple industries, she has substantial experience with clients in retail, manufacturing, and healthcare, among others.
As a litigator, Abby is skilled at vigorously defending her clients. From single-plaintiff litigation to mass arbitration filings, Abby has defended employers against claims filed under the Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 1981, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and related state law claims. Abby also frequently defends employers before federal and state administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the North Carolina Department of Labor.
Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Abby worked for a multi-state civil litigation defense firm where she represented the interests of employers defending workers’ compensation claims brought by employees. Abby earned her Juris Doctor from Campbell University Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law where she graduated cum laude. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University.
In her personal time, Abby enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and son.
