Zak Kuchler is an associate in the firm’s Phoenix office and dedicates his practice to defending employers in employment matters.
Zak represents public and private-sector employers in numerous areas of employment-related litigation and pre-litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, employment contracts, employment-related torts, and wrongful termination. Zak has successfully defended clients in both EEOC and Arizona Attorney General Civil Rights Division investigations, and he regularly represents employers in alternative dispute resolution forums. In addition to employment litigation, Zak partners with employers of all sizes on a broad spectrum of day-to-day employment advice and compliance issues, including employee hiring, discipline, terminations, leaves of absence, workplace accommodations, and wage and hour issues. Zak also provides preventative advice to clients with respect to personnel matters such as handbook and policy review and development, workplace investigations, and training.
While attending the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, Zak served as a Research Aide and a Graduate Writing Assistant, as well as the Executive Director of External Affairs for the College’s Sports Law and Business Organization. As a Law Clerk for the Arizona Coyotes Hockey Club (NHL) and U-Haul International, he gained experience working on employment litigation and advice, intellectual property, corporate governance, and other matters. Prior to attending law school, Zak served as an Auxiliary Officer in the Calgary Police Service, where he had the opportunity to conduct investigations, testify in court, and train in de-escalation tactics. His undergraduate degree is in Justice Studies from Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
During his free time, Zak enjoys traveling, hiking, playing hockey and golf, and attending concerts and other live events.
