WASHINGTON, DC – August 25, 2009 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), America’s third-largest labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Robert R. Niccolini has joined its Washington, DC office as a shareholder. Previously, Mr. Niccolini was a partner at McGuire Woods’ in Baltimore.
Mr. Niccolini, who was named a Maryland “Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics in 2009, is Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice Group of the American Health Lawyers Association. He represents management in employment litigation and traditional labor disputes, with special experience in the technology and telecommunications, health care, life sciences, and government contracting industries. His practice includes all facets of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, ADA, FMLA, ERISA, and employment torts, as well as labor arbitration, union campaigns, and unfair labor-practice proceedings.
Mr. Niccolini has represented employers in state and federal court throughout the U.S., including in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, as well as before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, and the U.S. Department of Labor. He also regularly provides counseling and training on employment issues, as well as drafting employment policies, handbooks, and contracts. In addition to his labor and employment law experience, he has assisted clients extensively in commercial litigation and insurance-coverage disputes.

Mr. Niccolini earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1990. He earned his law degree in 1993 from Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review from 1992-1993.
