Rudolph H. Garfield Circle of Caring Award given for dedication and service to developmentally challenged persons
CLEVELAND – November 11, 2009 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), America’s third-largest labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Bruce Hearey, a shareholder in the firm’s Cleveland office, is the recipient of the Rudolph H. Garfield Circle of Caring Award from the Hattie Larlham Foundation in Mantua, Ohio.
Hattie Larlham is a not-for-profit organization that provides quality care to children and adults with developmental disabilities. Through residential, respite/private duty home care and vocational programs, the organization’s services not only benefit the individuals it serves, but also their families, loved ones and surrounding communities.
“The people who have been honored before me have a long history of service, dedication and caring for the mission of Hattie Larlham,” said Hearey. “It’s very gratifying to know that I’m considered among them, because I know the important contributions they have made.” Hearey continued, “The great thing about Hattie Larlham is that it allows the children and adults it serves to live the best life one could hope for. They do a phenomenal job of that.”
Hearey is very active with the organization in various volunteer capacities and as board chair of the Foundation Board of Hattie Larlham, the agency’s fundraising arm. Through Hearey’s efforts, the organization was able to raise close to $16 million for its “Hope at Work” capital campaign that included an extensive residential facility upgrade as well as the addition of specialized technology units and improved emergency access.
