Jan Michelsen Inducted as Fellow into Litigation Counsel of America

Honorary society comprised of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – May 10, 2010 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, is pleased to announce that Jan Michelsen, has been inducted as a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.  With her induction, she joins the most diverse honorary professional society in American law with recognition of excellence among American litigation and trial counsel across all segments of the bar.  Fellows are selected and invited after being evaluated on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work, along with ethical reputation.

Michelsen concentrates her practice in counseling and defending management in all areas of labor and employment law in federal and state courts and before regulatory agencies, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, non-competition, leaves of absences, contract disputes,  Web 2.0 and electronic communications issues, wrongful discharge claim and other state torts. 

She also counsels in the area of labor/management relations, union avoidance training, campaigns, arbitrations, and unfair labor practices.

Michelsen, who has an MBA and served as director of business development for the Indiana University Medical Center before her legal career, frequently writes and speaks on labor and employment law topics, providing practical advice to help human resources professionals and in-house attorneys manage their workforce and avoid litigation.
