   |   Press Release

LONDON – April 22, 2014 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is continuing the growth of its international expansion in Europe with the addition of Simon McMenemy, who joins the firm’s London office as a shareholder. McMenemy is the fourth attorney to join Ogletree Deakins’ London office since it opened in September 2013. The firm’s international network of offices also includes Berlin, Germany and 43 U.S.-based locations encompassing more than 700 attorneys.

“We continue to build momentum in Europe and expect to continue our international growth in response to client demand in the United States and overseas,” said Kim Ebert, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins. “Simon is able to immediately assist employers based in the U.K, Europe, and the U.S. with their complex labor and employment law needs. He will have a positive impact on our presence in the United Kingdom and advance our international strategy in Europe.”

McMenemy, an employment law practitioner with nearly 20 years of experience, joins Ogletree Deakins from Signet Partners, LLP, where he was a founding partner. He has a wide range of experience advising companies on change management, particularly in relation to TUPE, pensions, and benefits, and he has provided employment advice for some of London’s most high profile mergers and acquisitions. He represents clients in a variety of industries including hospitality, music, security, and electronics.

McMenemy took a sabbatical from his practice in 2011 to serve six months with the British Army. He served part of his time in Afghanistan and part in the Permanent Joint Headquarters in the United Kingdom, where he reorganized military teams and re-wrote working practices and job descriptions for the personnel involved. McMenemy holds a Bachelor of Laws from King’s College London. He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Inner Temple in 1995 and admitted to the Roll of Solicitors of the Supreme Court in 2000.
