Ogletree Deakins’ Bruce Hearey Named President of Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association

CLEVELAND – June 13, 2014 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Cleveland shareholder Bruce Hearey has been named the 2014-2015 president of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association (CMBA). Hearey was introduced as the president today during the CMBA’s annual meeting and inaugural luncheon at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center. The CMBA has nearly 6,000 members and serves the largest legal community in Ohio.

Hearey has practiced law for nearly 40 years. In that time, he has built a reputation as a pragmatic and creative litigator and advisor on behalf of employers. Hearey has litigated numerous restrictive covenant/unfair competition cases. He has also tried cases involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, hostile environment, sex harassment, wrongful termination, and age, race, religious, and national origin discrimination in federal and state courts around the country. Hearey is both a business and employment litigator, and he has represented professional sports teams, colleges, hospitals, Fortune 200 companies, and manufacturing companies, among others.

Hearey has been lauded by his peers for his legal skills and approach to client service. He is a Fellow in The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, consistently listed in Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America, and was named the 2013 “Lawyer of the Year” in the Litigation – Labor & Employment category for the Cleveland metro area.
