HOUSTON – December 28, 2017 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Jeff Mayes as a shareholder in the firm’s Houston office. Mayes’ practice focuses on employment law litigation and he joins the firm from Alaniz and Schraeder.

Mayes has handled matters involving discrimination and harassment claims, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) issues, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) discrimination, trade secrets, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) issues, cases involving the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and wage and hour disputes. He also counsels and trains his clients on workplace issues related to discipline, termination, hiring, investigations, leaves of absence, and reasonable accommodation of disabilities, with a focus on avoiding liability and preventing litigation.
Mayes also has traditional labor law experience, including negotiation of union contracts, counseling and preparing clients for representation elections, counseling on grievances, and defense of unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
Mayes received his B.A. from Texas A&M University in 1992 and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law – Houston in 1996.
