Ogletree Deakins Continues Hiring Streak, Welcomes Kjersten Turpen as Shareholder in Portland

PORTLAND – September 12, 2022 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to welcome Kjersten Turpen as a shareholder in the firm’s Portland, Oregon office. Turpen’s arrival signals continued growth across the firm, with an additional five shareholders recently arriving in Denver, Houston, Birmingham, and Cleveland.

Turpen is a seasoned employment attorney, who has practiced law for more than two decades. She represents domestic and international employers in all areas of employment law, including litigating claims of trade secret misappropriation, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour violations. Turpen also provides comprehensive employment law counseling on managing day-to-day risk in the workplace, such as best practices for employee hiring and separation, in particular with regard to drafting and enforcing non-competition agreements and other measures employers can take to protect their confidential and proprietary information.

Turpen is a dedicated member of numerous bar and employer associations, including the Society for Human Resource Management, Association for Corporate Growth, Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, Multnomah Bar Association, and the Labor and Employment sections of the Oregon and California State Bar associations. Turpen is a frequent speaker and author on key employment law issues, ranging from COVID-19 implications for the workplace to new legislation and case law impacting employers.

Turpen earned her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law, a certificate in Public International Law from Oxford University, and her B.A., with honors, from the University of Oregon.
