The prevalence of bullying and violence in the workplace may make it seem that workplace violence is random, unpredictable, and inevitable. Contrary to common belief, however, research has shown that warning signs typically precede acts of violence and that violence often escalates in a cycle. Understanding this cycle of violence allows managers and HR professionals to intervene and protect the people and assets of their organizations.
