Effective March 7, 2017, employers in New York must comply with the New York State Department of Labor’s final regulations governing permissible methods of wage payment. The regulations include strict notice and consent requirements for employers offering wages via direct deposit or payroll debit card, stringent prohibitions on certain payroll debit card fees, and rules establishing specific access to wages. This program will discuss the changes employers currently offering wage payment by direct deposit and/or payroll debit card need to implement.
