Juan advises employers on day-to-day employment matters and defends them before various administrative agencies including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Texas Workforce Commission. He has experience defending employers in state and federal courts against employment discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII and the Texas Labor Code, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and interference and retaliation claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act. In addition to litigation, Juan has experience in conducting internal investigations and drafts and reviews of employee policies and handbooks, employment agreements, and severance agreements.
Juan advises clients regarding legal requirements for accommodating disabled individuals and defends them against claims brought under Title III of the ADA.
Juan also provides advice and counseling to property management companies and residential housing professionals to ensure compliance with the Fair Housing Act and defends them against claims under the Act before HUD and various state agencies.
Juan served as a judicial extern to the retired Honorable Chief Judge Neil P. Olack in Jackson, Mississippi.
In his spare time, Juan enjoys playing tennis with his husband, playing board games with his son, and completing jigsaw puzzles.
