Jesse Ferrantella is a shareholder in the San Diego office. He specializes in defending employers in class and representative actions, including claims brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). In several cases, he has secured dismissal of class and representative allegations, defeated class or conditional certification, and obtained favorable summary judgment rulings through targeted motions and innovative procedural strategies.
Jesse also handles significant motions and appeals. He has obtained favorable rulings before the California and federal courts of appeal, and briefed significant issues of wage-and-hour law before the California Supreme Court. He has also defended clients in lawsuits alleging discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and breach of contract claims.
Jesse has been passionate about employment law since serving on Berkeley’s Journal of Employment and Labor Law. He brings his passion, expertise, and experience to secure the best possible result for his clients.
Jesse has defended public and private employers in various industries, including mortgage lenders, transportation and logistics companies, automotive dealerships and service centers, restaurants, retailers, hotels and motels, institutions of higher education, healthcare groups, and staffing companies.
Prior to entering private practice, Jesse served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard Clark at the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges. He also externed with the Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
