Kristina N. Holmstrom

Shareholder   |   Phoenix

Kristina N. Holmstrom joined Ogletree Deakins in 2017 after spending over a decade doing ERISA and first-party bad faith litigation at a mid-sized regional firm in the Southwest. Since joining Ogletree Deakins, Kristina has expanded her practice nationwide. She is admitted to the state and federal courts of Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Minnesota as well as in multiple federal districts across the country. Given her presence in many ERISA and insurance “hot spots,” Kristina has considerable experience with aggressive discovery, standard of review disputes, fiduciary duty claims, attorneys’ fees claims, and combatting pattern and practice theories. Encountering these issues again and again for multiple clients over multiple jurisdictions allows her to focus on consistency across cases and jurisdictions, leading to better and more predictable results as well as allowing her to more efficiently assess risk and strategy at the outset of a case. In the non-ERISA cases, Kristina has extensively worked up cases against some of the preeminent bad faith lawyers in the country and has had jury trials in New Mexico and Nevada. Kristina’s practice is rounded out by regular appellate work. She has represented (ERISA and non-ERISA) clients at the Ninth, Tenth, Fifth, and Third Circuits, as well as at the Supreme Court. Kristina graduated magna cum laude from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law in 2004, where she served on Law Review and competed with the moot court team. In her twenty-plus years of practice, Kristina has remained active with DRI’s Life, Health, and Disability Committee, frequently speaking on complex ERISA issues and holding various leadership positions.

When she’s not working, Kristina enjoys running marathons and ultra-marathons.
