Shareholder   |   Richmond

Scott Siegner is an attorney in the Richmond office of Ogletree Deakins. Scott’s practice includes employment litigation and counseling, with a focus on litigating claims of whistleblower retaliation, employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, harassment, and wage and hour violations in both state and federal court. Scott has successfully represented clients in multi-day jury trials, state grievance hearings, agency investigations, mediations, and arbitrations.

Scott’s experience allows him to counsel clients through difficult, high-pressure, and high-profile personnel decisions to mitigate the risk of litigation and, where necessary, defend claims from the initial complaint through trial. Scott takes pride in using his unique skillset to identify an action plan that effectively navigates delicate legal and factual scenarios to best serve the interests of his clients and maximize their continued success. Scott has successfully handled numerous litigation matters, including cases involving the following:

  • Title VII
  • Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA)
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA)
  • Equal Pay Act (EPA)
  • Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA)
  • Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX)
  • False Claims Act (FCA)
  • Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • Affordable Care Act (ACA)
  • State statutory and common law claims, including those involving whistleblower allegations, wrongful termination, computer crimes, breach of contract, and breach of fiduciary duties.

Scott has consistently received recognition from his peers as a “Rising Star” by Virginia Super Lawyers, “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch,” and a “Legal Elite” in Virginia Business magazine.

Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Scott worked as a litigation associate for a nationwide firm where he gained experience in medical malpractice, data breach litigation, sports law, products liability, creditors’ rights, and complex commercial litigation. Scott’s experience includes bilateral class action litigation, multi-district litigation, and representation of individual and industry plaintiffs and defendants. Scott also clerked for the Supreme Court of Virginia before entering private practice. While in law school, Scott served as Manuscripts Editor on the Editorial Board of the University of Richmond Law Review.
