Jessica H. Thomas

Shareholder   |   Atlanta

Jessica focuses her practice on three areas: workplace investigations, employment and disability access litigation, and strategic advice on DEI compliance, ADA accessibility requirements, and higher education matters.

Jessica has led and participated in numerous investigations involving discrimination, harassment, fraud, and human resources practices. She approaches each investigation with a commitment to prompt, impartial, and meticulous fact-finding that enables employers to make well-informed decisions.

As a litigator, Jessica defends employers of all sizes—from small businesses to large hospital systems to municipalities and school boards. She understands that successful litigation requires prompt communication, efficient time management, and a detail-oriented strategy. Before joining Ogletree, Jessica regularly represented government entities and public officials, giving her extensive experience with official immunities and constitutional defenses. She has successfully defended clients against federal and state constitutional claims and, as a first-year associate, assisted with a case before the United States Supreme Court.

Jessica also counsels employers on a range of compliance matters. She advises on the evolving requirements surrounding Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and policies, and she draws on years of experience guiding clients through ADA Title II and Title III disability access obligations. Her accessibility clients have included retail stores, restaurants, hotels, hospitals, physicians’ offices, and colleges and universities.

Jessica serves on the Executive Committee of the National Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section and is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators. She also served for three years on the Springboard Committee of Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta.

Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing, summa cum laude, from the University of Alabama in 2010 and her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2013. At Vanderbilt, she was a Chancellor’s Law Scholar, a member of Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Fraternity, a semifinalist in the Mock Trial Competition, and a participant in the Civil Practice Legal Clinic.
