Susan focuses her practice on multistate advice and counseling, where she assists clients of all sizes and industries with customized compliance solutions, utilizing clients’ technologies to leverage robust, cost-efficient remedies that serve varying employee populations. Whether it is drafting an individual policy or entire handbook, streamlining current or creating compliance procedures, or managing employment practices audits, Susan is adept and efficient. She is a pragmatic, business-focused partner who understands and never loses sight of the underlying business needs while identifying areas of risk in the full spectrum of labor and employment law. She has drafted and revised hundreds of policies and handbooks, from PTO to pet bereavement to parental leave, and managed many more multistate projects including RIFs and offer letters. Susan also provides practical day-to-day counseling and litigation avoidance strategies on HR issues such as hiring, terminations, accommodations, leaves, and wage and hour issues, and is a frequent speaker on a variety of employment law topics. Susan serves as a key member of the Multistate Advice and Counseling Practice Group, where she launched the firm’s popular podcast series, “Multistate Mondays” and assists the co-chairs with practice group outreach and engagement. As a former Investigator with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and certified divorce and life coach, Susan also represents employers in mediations and administrative charge matters before the EEOC, and other state and local agencies.
