Virginia advises clients on a wide range of employment matters, including the defense of independent contractor misclassification claims and class action matters, contract disputes, internal and administrative investigations, independent contractor agreements, and a wide range of other personnel issues.

Virginia has worked on the defense of class action matters and independent contractor misclassification lawsuits for national and global companies in various states, including North Carolina, California, New Jersey, and Louisiana. She also has experience defending lawsuits involving discrimination claims, contract allegations, and other employment-related claims in state and federal courts. In addition to litigation experience, Virginia has counseled clients regarding independent contractor and employment agreements, implementing legally-defensible workplace policies, and evaluating risk management and compliance.

An experienced trial lawyer, Virginia strives to minimize risk up front for clients and resolve every matter as quickly and constructively as possible. If litigation becomes necessary, Virginia has handled cases including wrongful termination, breach of contract, negligence, and alleged violations of Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), FLSA, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the North Carolina Wage and Hour Act (NCWHA), Section 1981, and the Retaliatory Employment Discrimination Act (REDA). Virginia has also worked on appeals to the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of North Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. In addition, Virginia also defends employers before federal and state administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the North Carolina Department of Labor (NC DOL).

Virginia has received recognition by clients and peers for her work. She was previously selected by the Charlotte Business Journal as one of the 40 Under 40 emerging business leaders exemplifying professional excellence and community involvement. She has also been recognized by Super Lawyers as a North Carolina Rising Star for five consecutive years and also by Business North Carolina’s Legal Elite for Employment Law.
