Patricia M. Leonard

A skilled labor lawyer with firsthand experience in the healthcare industry, Pat’s primary focus areas include representing employers in traditional labor matters such as union organizing, collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations. Prior to joining Ogletree, Pat spent twenty years working in various roles for two large healthcare systems, including both non-profit and for-profit systems.  In her roles as Associate General Counsel and Director Labor Relations, Pat coordinated successful responses to several robust organizing campaigns, including nursing and resident campaigns. She worked with the leadership team to implement the organizations’ labor relations philosophies and develop front-line leader education focused on the labor landscape, in-depth NLRA training, and establishing proactive, positive employee relations initiatives and assessment tools.  With extensive experience navigating the legal and regulatory environment related to employee relations and labor unions, Pat is an advisor to all levels of management in a challenging regulatory environment. She has served as the lead contract negotiator responsible for developing strategy and representing employers in collective bargaining as well as representing employers in labor arbitrations, grievances and administrative charges.

Pat graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1986 and Wayne State University Law School in 1990.  She was admitted to practice in Michigan in November 1990.  In addition to her labor relations experience, Pat also served as an Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor.
