A bill (A3110) introduced on September 15, 2008 would add midwives to the list of medical professionals who are authorized to examine or treat individuals under certain labor laws.  The bill adds midwives to the list of authorized medical professionals who may issue statements of physical fitness to minors who require working papers, as well as the list of those authorized medical professionals who can examine, certify and treat disability claimants under the Temporary Disability Benefits law.
