Ogletree Deakins Elevates New Leader in its ERISA Litigation Practice Group

   |   News

Salt Lake City shareholder Eric Mathisen has been named chair of Ogletree Deakins’ ERISA Litigation Practice Group. Mathisen succeeds Mark Schmidtke, who founded the group when he joined the firm in 2007.

Mathisen has a national practice focused on employee benefits litigation, where he works closely with employers to help them respond in a strategic, effective, and efficient manner to lawsuits involving ERISA and non-ERISA employee benefits matters in federal and state courts throughout the United States.

The ERISA Litigation Practice Group comprises one of the largest teams of employee benefits, executive compensation, and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) litigation practitioners in the U.S. They represent employers, insurers, and employee benefits plans in litigation involving the denial of life, health, disability, and retirement benefits; breaches of fiduciary duty; bad faith; claims of misrepresentation; and subrogation and reimbursement.
