In a recent House of Representatives subcommittee hearing, OSHA Assistant Secretary David Michaels stressed the agency’s focus and development of an Injury and Illness Plan Prevention Program (I2P2) standard. Dr. Michaels stated, “This standard will not tell employers how to address specific hazards, nor will it be a one size fits all regulation. Instead, it will require employers to develop a systematic plan to help them find and fix hazards in their workplaces.”
Before issuing a proposed rule, OSHA is expected to begin a small business review where it will receive input from the Small Business Administration on the development of an I2P2 standard.
