James G. Otovic

Associate   |   Greenville

James Otovic is an associate attorney in the Greenville office of Ogletree Deakins. His practice focuses primarily on traditional labor law, where he represents clients in the manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and construction industries. James was born and raised in Greenville and, while he has lived in every corner of South Carolina, his strong connection to the city made Greenville his permanent home.

Before joining the firm, James received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science—with a double minor in Communication and Business Administration—from Clemson University in 2019.

Following his graduation from Clemson, James attended the Charleston School of Law, where, in 2024, he earned his Juris Doctorate, summa cum laude, and was a member of the James L. Petigru Inn of Court. Also, during law school, James served as the Associate Editor in Chief for the Charleston Law Review, a member of the Moot Court Board, and was a Student Body Senator for his second and third years of law school.

While in law school, specifically during the summer of his first year, James externed for Judge Julianna Michelle Childs while she presided over the United States District Court—District of South Carolina, and briefly for the D.C. Court of Appeals. Next summer, James accepted a Summer Associate position of Ogletree’s Greenville office.
