Earlier this month, the New Jersey State Senate passed Assembly Bill 873, which gives all employees, without regard to employer size, the right to six weeks paid leave every 12 months to care for a newborn, a newly adopted child or sick relative. Governor Jon Corzine, who has referred to the law as “a victory for the working families of New Jersey and all those who believe that earning a living and caring for a loved one should not be an either/or decision,” has announced that he will sign the bill on May 2, 2008.
