In May of 2016, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) issued its much-anticipated final rule changing the “white collar” exemptions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Notably, the regulations significantly increased the minimum salary necessary for employees to qualify for the executive, administrative, and professional exemptions from the FLSA’s overtime requirements. This session will provide a concise summary of the changes and their practical consequences for employers. The session will also address additional, significant legal developments, including pay equity initiatives and the status of the DOL’s new persuader regulations.
