Maureen K. Bogue

Shareholder   |   San Francisco

Maureen is a shareholder in the firm’s San Francisco office. Maureen has focused exclusively on employment law since starting her legal career in 1993. In addition to many years in private practice, Maureen served as global in-house employment counsel for a multi-national engineering and construction firm. Her experience as a litigator and trusted advisor, combined with her in-house experience, allows Maureen to provide “real-life,” actionable advice to employers who are navigating complex employment issues while running a business.

Maureen has defended employers in litigation matters for over 30 years. She regularly defends employers in state and federal courts, arbitration, and before administrative agencies in claims alleging harassment, discrimination, failure to accommodate, retaliation, violation of privacy, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims. Maureen is dedicated to finding the best litigation outcomes for her clients, whether that be obtaining summary judgment, reaching an early resolution, or taking a matter to arbitration or trial.

Maureen regularly advises employers on California wage and hour compliance (including compliance with California Prevailing Wage laws), leaves of absence, paid leaves, reasonable accommodation of disabilities, employee handbooks and policies, employee hiring, discipline and separations, and managing internal and external investigations into allegations of misconduct. She has significant experience advising federal contractors (including Davis Bacon Act compliance), employers in the construction, clean energy, and biotech industries, and partnering with employers to conduct audits of HR and wage and hour policies, procedures, and documentation.

Maureen is also a highly sought-after workplace investigator.  With over 20 years of experience conducting workplace investigations, she is often called upon to conduct investigations into allegations against members of the C-suite, founders, employees in the HR or Legal departments and other sensitive positions. She has conducted investigations into claims of sexual harassment and assault, race discrimination, sex discrimination, disability discrimination, and retaliation. She also conducts culture assessments to uncover concerns among members of the workforce.

Maureen has been selected as a Northern California Super Lawyer every year since 2016.
