Marek Pienkos is an associate in Ogletree Deakins’ San Diego office. Marek’s practice focuses on litigation and representing employers in matters involving claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, harassment, wage and hour matters, and related issues. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Marek practiced labor and employment law in a few San Diego firms for several years.
Most recently, Marek represented and advised public entities, nonprofit organizations, and private universities on a wide range of employment and labor issues. While his practice focused heavily on litigation, he also counseled counties, municipalities, and water districts on California FEHA and Labor Code compliance, as well as collective bargaining matters. He also prosecuted a high-profile mandamus case on behalf of a county against the California Public Employment Relations Board (PERB) with several unions as the real parties in interest that resulted in a published appellate opinion.
Marek earned his law degree from The Ohio State University, where he served as an Associate Editor of the Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal. Marek graduated summa cum laude with honors from Fordham University in New York City with a B.A. degree in Economics.
