Ogletree Deakins Earns ISO 42001 Certification for AI Management

   |   Press Release

ATLANTA – July 2, 2026 – Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has earned ISO 42001 certification following an independent audit by Schellman, an accredited certification body. ISO 42001 is the first internationally recognized and auditable standard for implementing and managing AI systems responsibly. Ogletree Deakins is among a small number of law firms globally to have achieved this distinction.

The firm’s AI Management System governs how AI tools are evaluated, approved, deployed, and monitored across its more than 60 offices. It encompasses firmwide policies, risk assessment frameworks, training requirements, and ongoing performance monitoring—all validated through a rigorous external audit. The certification complements Ogletree Deakins’ existing SOC 2 Type 2 attestation, adding a dedicated AI-specific governance layer to the firm’s data security and privacy commitments.

“AI is reshaping how legal services are delivered, and we have an obligation to ensure the tools used on our clients’ behalf meet rigorous standards for accountability and oversight,” said Tim Fox, Chief Data and AI Officer at Ogletree Deakins. “This certification is a meaningful validation of the work our team has built and a commitment we intend to keep strengthening.”

For clients, the certification provides confidence that any AI tool used in connection with their matters has been vetted against internationally recognized standards for risk, ethics, transparency, and data handling. For those in regulated industries, it also offers a credible, independently verified record of the firm’s AI governance practices for use in vendor risk management reviews.

The certification reflects Ogletree Deakins’ broader focus on technology leadership and practice innovation, ensuring clients and attorneys alike can trust how AI is deployed on their behalf.
