Justin R. Vanderveer

Justin assists employers in navigating management-side employment issues and defending employment litigation matters in Arizona and Colorado. He works with clients to litigate workplace disputes as well as providing general advice and counsel to employers.

Justin’s prior experience includes employment litigation, white-collar defense, commercial litigation, and government relations. Before joining Ogletree Deakins, he worked at an international employment law firm and a local boutique general practice firm. He has particular experience defending employers against claims under federal and state employment laws, as well as litigating white-collar criminal and civil matters and general commercial disputes.

At the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Justin was a member of the National Trial Team, winning back-to-back regional championships and placing Top 10 in the National Trial Competition. He received the Lewis F. Powell Jr. Medal for Excellence in Advocacy from the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2020 and 2021. Justin also served as President of the Moot Court Board, co-founded the Air and Space Law Society, and served as Treasurer of the Student Trial Lawyers Association. He was a legal intern with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and, before law school, interned with S&P Global’s in-house government affairs division.

Justin has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star since 2024. He is licensed in Arizona and Colorado and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona.

Justin is a Phoenix native, born and raised in Arizona. He returned home to practice after attending law school in Denver.
