Brenda J. Pence

Special Counsel   |   Indianapolis

Brenda understands employment disputes from both sides of the table. Before joining Ogletree, she spent 15 years as a lead employment law attorney for a large multi-state employer, advising the business and managing employment disputes from the inside. That experience gives her a perspective that is rare among law firm attorneys: she understands not only how to defend a claim, but how employers evaluate risk, balance competing business priorities, and make decisions when legal issues arise.

Earlier in her career, Brenda spent 17 years defending private and public sector employers in a broad range of employment matters, including allegations of discrimination/harassment, failure to accommodate disabilities and wage and hour matters.  These disputes arose as pre-suit complaints or claims, administrative charges, and lawsuits. Her experience includes substantial work with the EEOC, state and local fair employment practice agencies, the U.S. Department of Labor, and OSHA.

Today, Brenda draws on both perspectives to deliver practical, strategic representation focused on what matters to her clients: understanding the risks, protecting the organization, and resolving employment disputes as effectively and efficiently as possible.
