ATLANTA, GA – May 5, 2008 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), the nation’s third largest labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce Rebecca L. Sigmund has joined the firm’s Atlanta office. She will be a shareholder with the firm.
Ms. Sigmund formerly was a partner with Powell Goldstein LLP of Atlanta, where she served as manager of the firm’s Immigration Team.

Ms. Sigmund advises companies on immigration alternatives for prospective employees, and matters relating to employment eligibility of workers. Her practice primarily involves securing temporary working visas and permanent residency for executives, managers, investors, technical personnel, and other professionals, to authorize their employment in the United States. Ms. Sigmund’s practice also involves advising U.S. employers on compliance procedures to verify the work eligibility of new employees, as mandated under the “employer sanctions” provisions of federal law.
Ms. Sigmund was the recipient of the 2006 S. Phillip Heiner Award, presented by the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation for Community Pro Bono Services. She was recognized by Atlanta Magazine as a 2007 and 2008 Georgia Super Lawyer, and ranked as a Georgia Immigration Notable Practitioner in the 2007 Chambers USA rankings.
Ms. Sigmund received her B.A. from Furman University in 1980 and her law degree from Georgia State University College of Law in 1988.
