Ron Chapman, Jr.

Shareholder   |   Dallas

Ron is a nationally-recognized strategic advisor and zealous advocate in high-stakes labor and employment matters, including litigation and appeals in courts across the country and proceedings before the EEOC, DOL, NLRB, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local governmental agencies. Ron previously chaired the firm’s Innovation Council and is currently serving his third term on the firm’s Board of Directors. He is exceptional at marshalling the firm’s significant resources and coordinating work throughout the firm’s many offices for clients with multi-state and multi-national operations, ensuring consistency and efficiency.

As a trusted counselor to employers in all of their labor and employment law needs, Ron has gained repeated recognition for his responsiveness and problem-solving prowess. The International Law Office named Ron as the overall winner for the entire United States, and the exclusive winner for Texas, in the Employment and Labor category for its Client Choice awards, based on feedback provided by more than 2,000 in-house counsel. The recognition focused on Ron’s ability to add real value to clients, with criteria including the quality of legal advice, value for money, commercial awareness, effective communication, billing transparency, response time, and use of technology.

Based on feedback from both in-house and other outside counsel, Chambers USA proclaimed that Ron “is a regular name on high-stakes employment cases in Texas. He is ‘at the top of his game,’ according to his peers, and clients appreciate his ‘candid, frank advice, which makes it feel like you’re talking to a trusted counselor as opposed to a lawyer. He sees the bigger picture.’” Similarly, Chambers USA stated: “Ron Chapman is a well-regarded practitioner with experience across a wide range of employment issues, including sensitive harassment matters.” One client commented: “He’s responsive, listens and is solution-based. He is very, very smart and thinks outside the box.”

Global legal research firm Acritas repeatedly named Ron an Acritas in its survey of nearly 4,000 senior leaders in legal departments at organizations with revenues of at least $50 million. These in-house lawyers noted Ron’s “subject matter mastery and incredible responsiveness,” with one respondent stating, “Whenever we have a question, whatever time of day it is, he answers it.” Similarly, after interviewing over 2,000 senior in-house counsel, Thomson Reuters repeatedly has named Ron one of its “Stand-out Lawyers,” with respondents describing him as “exceptionally responsive and client-focused,” with a “broad perspective and understanding of the various issues that arise in all types of employment-related lawsuits.” One respondent stated, “He is our liaison with their firm, and he is really creative and strategic.” Finally, Lawdragon repeatedly has included Ron on its list of the nation’s “500 Leading U.S. Corporate Employment Lawyers.”

Ron has extensive appellate experience and has prevailed in appeals against the top appellate lawyers from both the EEOC and the NLRB, in addition to many private litigants. He clerked for Judge Robert M. Parker on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Ron is Board Certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He also is a Fellow in the College of Labor & Employment Lawyers. Fellowship is based on a rigorous vetting process involving an evaluation of candidates’ character, integrity, and professional experience, as well as their record of acting as a resource for academia, the government, the judiciary, and the community at large.
