UK Labour Government Proposes the Right to ‘Switch Off’
The United Kingdom continues to see rapid growth in the number of workplaces adopting remote and hybrid work arrangements, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this new type of work offers many positives for both businesses and employees, it can also blur the boundaries between work and home life, resulting in a negative work-life balance. “Labour’s Plan to Make Work Pay” sets out the government’s plan to create a right to switch off “so working from home does not result in homes turning into 24/7 offices.”
