On November 3, 2025, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a proposed rule to expand the scope, collection, and use of biometric information—including fingerprints, facial imagery, and DNA—to include applicants, petitioners, beneficiaries, and other individuals associated with immigration benefit requests.
