On March 13, 2014, President Obama signed a memorandum directing the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to update, modernize, and simplify the regulations defining the white collar exemptions (executive, administrative, professional, and computer employees) under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Over 15 months later, on July 6, 2015, the DOL published its proposed revisions and initiated the 60-day comment period, after which the DOL will publish its final ruling.
