Pay audits will be the focus of the first webinar in our three-part series on preparing for Massachusetts’s equal pay law, which will take effect on July 1, 2018. Last year, Massachusetts enacted reforms that significantly broadened the state’s existing equal pay law. The new law now establishes a violation for pay differentials between men and women for “comparable work,” prohibits employers from asking prospective hires about their salary histories with prior employers, and includes a “safe harbor” for employers who conduct pay audits and correct pay disparities. In this webinar, we will discuss whether, when, and how an employer should conduct a pay equity audit—a key proactive step companies can take to identify and address potential pay disparities. Part two of our series will look at considerations and key tips related to hiring and compensation policies.
