On March 19, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-33-20, requiring “all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence except as needed to maintain continuity of operations of the federal critical infrastructure sectors.” Several California counties already had issued “shelter-in-place” orders. This timely webinar will address the scope of the critical infrastructure exemptions and the factors used to determine whether a business is exempt from the state and local orders. We also will discuss reconciling potentially conflicting state and local orders, and the extent to which non-essential businesses can maintain essential operations. Finally, this webinar will include a high-level discussion of recent daily developments regarding the state and local orders, including important resources employers can use to monitor this rapidly changing legal landscape.
