According to a recent report by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Louisiana has one of the lowest percentages of unionized employees in the nation. In the recent survey, compiled from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Current Population Survey, 4.5 percent of Louisiana employees belong to a union. Louisiana’s union participation has grown slightly since 2010, when 4.3 percent of employees were unionized. Four states—North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Arkansas—had lower union participation than Louisiana. New York ranked highest, with nearly a quarter of its employees unionized.
