Roughly seven months ago, when the NYDOL first implemented the Wage Theft Prevention Act, the agency indicated that it would soon furnish sample notices and acknowledgments of wage rates in Russian, Haitian Creole and Polish. The NYDOL now has fulfilled that promise, and these additional notices and acknowledgements are now available on its website. Previously, in addition to English, the only other languages in which the sample notices were available were Spanish, Korean and Chinese.
Employers of workers that identify their primary languages as Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Haitian Creole or Polish must provide these workers with notices and acknowledgements of wage rates in their primary languages. For employees who identify their primary language as something other than the six languages for which sample notices and acknowledgements are available, it will suffice for employers to continue to provide English-only forms.
