GREENVILLE, SC – January 5, 2009 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), the nation’s third largest labor and employment law firm, announced today that Charles E. McDonald has been elected Chair of the South Carolina Bar’s Employment and Labor Law Section. Mr. McDonald, a shareholder in Ogletree Deakins’ Greenville office, previously served as Chair-Elect in 2008 and Vice Chair in 2007.
In his role as Chair of the Employment and Labor Law Section, Mr. McDonald will be responsible for leading the Section – which serves as a forum for all segments of the employment bar to review and comment on regulatory policy and procedure, as well as legislative initiatives. His term, which took effect on January 1, 2009, will last one year.
Mr. McDonald primarily practices in the area of employment litigation. He represents a variety of employers in employment litigation matters ranging from breach of employment contracts to cases involving discrimination in the areas of race, sex, age, and disability in both individual and class actions. He is certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a Specialist in Employment and Labor Law.
