Monique R. Gougisha of Ogletree Deakins Appointed to Louisiana State Bar’s Community Action Committee

NEW ORLEANS, LA – August 31, 2009 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), the nation’s third-largest labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Monique R. Gougisha, an associate in its New Orleans office, has been appointed to the Louisiana State Bar Association’s Community Action Committee.

Ms. Gougisha was appointed to the position by the President of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Kim M. Boyle.

The purpose of the LSBA Community Action Committee is to serve as a statewide resource and catalyst for lawyers to become actively involved in their community through charitable and other public-service projects.  This committee consists of approximately 30 appointed attorneys and judges who work at various levels throughout the state.  Among the projects the LSBA Community Action Committee will be coordinating during the 2009-2010 year are the 13th Annual Secret Santa Project, the Justice Jog Against Hunger, and Habitat for Humanity Bar House.

As a labor and employment law attorney, Monique R. Gougisha represents management clients in federal and state court employment litigation, and in proceedings before various state and federal administrative bodies. She is a frequent speaker on employment law topics, and a contributing author to publications such as the Louisiana Bar Journal and HR Magazine. 

Ms. Gougisha earned her B.A. from Loyola University in 1999 and her law degree from Tulane University School of Law in 2002.
