Ogletree Deakins Welcomes Jon Gumbel as a Shareholder

ATLANTA, GA – December 21, 2009 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), America’s third-largest labor and employment law firm, is pleased to announce that Jon Gumbel has joined its Atlanta office as a shareholder.  Previously, Mr. Gumbel was a partner at the Atlanta office of Epstein, Becker & Green.

Mr. Gumbel is an experienced litigator who was named one of America’s Leading Attorneys by Chambers USA in 2008.  During his career, he has represented clients in state and federal court in 25 states across the country.  He advises management on all aspects of employment law issues including organizing campaigns, labor arbitrations and contract negotiations.  In addition to his practice, he currently serves as the Legislative Chair for the Human Resources Management Association, Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Gumbel’s experience includes employment litigation, including race, gender, age, religious and disability discrimination claims, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, ERISA, preventive employment and labor advice, OWBPA, wage and hour issues, wrongful termination, WARN Act and FLSA Litigation, restrictive covenant litigation, labor arbitrations, ULPs and labor advice.

Mr. Gumbel earned a B.B.A., with honors, from Western Illinois University in 1982 and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Florida in 1986.
