Ogletree Deakins Welcomes John Brown as Shareholder

DALLAS, TX – September 1, 2010 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, is pleased to announce John Brown as the newest shareholder to join the firm’s Dallas office.  Previously, Brown was a partner in the Dallas office of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP.  Brown is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and has vast experience in labor law, employment litigation and class action defense.  In his practice, Brown represents employers in disputes involving anti-discrimination laws, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the Occupational Safety and Health Act and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.  He also advises clients on a variety of labor and employment issues, including employee contracts, handbooks, employee separations, and investigations.

In addition to his practice, Brown also presents to employers, managers and human resources professionals on topics including, harassment policies and investigations, managing employment risk, and wage and hour issues. 

Brown earned his J.D. from Baylor University in 1995, where he was a member of the Order of Barristers, and a B.A. from Southern Methodist University in 1992.
