Chuck Baldwin Elected to Ogletree Deakins’ Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – January 31, 2011 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, is pleased to announce that Chuck Baldwin, the Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Indianapolis office, was elected to the firm’s Board of Directors.  The election took place during the firm’s Annual Shareholders Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on January 29.  Baldwin’s legal career spans nearly 30 years and he has continued to progress in leadership roles since joining Ogletree Deakins in 2000.  

Baldwin devotes his practice to representing employers in lawsuits and administrative proceedings involving EEO claims, ERISA claims, labor arbitrations, NLRB proceedings, wage and hour disputes, union avoidance, employment contracts, non-competition/trade secret disputes, and class and collective action litigation.  He frequently consults with and trains employees on employment practices and policies, union avoidance, investigation of harassment claims, protection of trade secrets and litigation avoidance.  In his litigation practice, Baldwin has served as lead counsel in defending employers at trial and on appeal in class actions, multi-plaintiff and individual lawsuits arising out of every conceivable type of workplace dispute.  He was also selected as Amici Curiae counsel to handle an appeal to Seventh Circuit for a case of first impression under the Americans with Disabilities Act.    

Baldwin is recognized by his peers in top legal and business publications, both nationally and internationally.  He was selected as one of the top labor and employment lawyers in Indiana by Chambers USA Leading Business Lawyers in the USA (2004 to present), Indiana Super Lawyers (2004 to present), the Best Lawyers in America since (2007 to present), and The International Who’s Who of Management Labour & Employment Lawyers (2010).  In 2009, Baldwin was inducted into the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, a non-profit professional association honoring the leading lawyers nationwide in the practice of labor and employment law.  

In his role as Managing Shareholder, the Indianapolis office was selected a Best Place to Work by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce in 2010 and a Top Work Places in 2009 by the Indianapolis Star.
