Ogletree Deakins Welcomes Lauren Shine as Of Counsel

BIRMINGHAM, AL – April 27, 2011 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, continues the growth of the firm’s Birmingham office in welcoming Lauren Shine as Of Counsel. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Shine served as in-house counsel for Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division and was also in private practice in Birmingham.

Shine’s practice includes worker’s compensation defense and employment law. She has represented multiple local and national businesses in all stages of litigation and has experience in handling claims of retaliation and wrongful termination. Additionally, Shine has trained managers and human resources personnel regarding employment policies and issues as well as drafted handbooks and contractor agreements, coordinated employment benefits and ensured compliance.

She is also a member of the Jefferson County Lawyer Mentor Program and Birmingham Volunteer Lawyers Program. Shine earned her J.D. from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law in 2005 and received a B.S. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
