Ogletree Deakins Continues Growth in Firm’s Chicago Office

CHICAGO, IL – June 7, 2011 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the nation’s largest labor and employment law firms, welcomes John Hayes as Of Counsel to the firm’s Chicago office. Prior to joining Ogletree Deakins, Hayes was a partner in the Chicago office of Krasnow Saunders Cornblath, LLP. Hayes has experience in a wide range of subject matters, with a concentration on employment litigation and advising clients on employment-related matters. He has successfully represented employers in lawsuits brought under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other employment-related statutes. He also advises companies on employment issues including harassment, discrimination, reasonable accommodation, termination decisions, wage-and-hour issues, Family and Medical Leave Act, and protective agreements.

In addition to Hayes’s litigation practice, he is also an Adjunct Professor at the DePaul University College of Law. Hayes is professionally active as a member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law and the Illinois Bar Association. Outside of his legal career, Hayes uniquely serves his community as a member of a Chicago-area rock and roll cover band, where he is the bass player. The band lends their talents to raise funds and awareness for charitable foundations such as the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, the Gus Foundation, and Children’s Memorial Hospital.

Hayes earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 2001. In 1994, he received a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
