Ogletree Deakins’ Kevin Bland Named A Most Influential in Occupational Safety and Health

COSTA MESA, Calif. – December 20, 2012 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is pleased to announce that Kevin Bland in the firm’s Orange County office has been named a “Most Influential in Occupational Safety and Health” by Cal-OSHA Reporter. In being named, Cal-OSHA Reporter declares that “Bland has become a force to be reckoned within California safety circles, representing employers in appeals and becoming a key player in the rulemaking process, lending his considerable experience.”

Formerly an ironworker, before he began his legal career, Bland had nearly 20 years of construction, safety, and business experience. Throughout his career, he has held a number of high profile leadership positions including serving as General Counsel to the California Framing Contractors Association, and as Vice President of a corporation that was accredited by United States and California Departments of Occupational Safety and Health Administration to perform testing of construction crane equipment and other material handling devices. With a high demand for his consulting experience, Bland has advised trade contractors, general contractors, offshore oil platform operators, crane and rigging contractors, movie and television productions, and various manufacturers on a range of safety operations. 

Noted for his depth of blended experience in the construction industry, safety and law, Bland has been a member of a dozen Cal/OSHA rulemaking advisory committees, including Heat Illness, Steel Erection Safety Regulations, Residential Framing Fall Protection, Residential Roofers Fall Protection, and several others. Further, Bland regularly testifies as a subject matter expert before the legislature on behalf of industry on proposed California legislation related to safety. In his legal practice, Bland represents clients in the construction, manufacturing, motion picture and television industries, in addition to many trade associations. Outside of his practice, Bland is an active member of the Cal-OSHA Advisory committee, the California Chamber of Commerce, Associated General Contractors, California Framing Contractors Association, and the American Bar Association.
