Ogletree Deakins Maintains Dynamic Growth in New York City with Addition of Shareholder Michael Marra

NEW YORK CITY – March 10, 2014 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, continues the dynamic and calculated growth of its New York City office with the addition of shareholder Michael Marra. Marra, who joins Ogletree Deakins from the New York City office of Cooley LLP, is the fifth shareholder to join the firm’s New York City office in the last year. Ogletree Deakins has welcomed 11 attorneys since March 2013, including five shareholders, two of counsel, and four associates.

An accomplished attorney with more than 15 years of employment and labor law experience, Marra spent much of the past decade as an associate general counsel at The Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc., a Fortune 400 company. As the associate general counsel, Marra handled all labor and employment law matters for 18,000 employees at 90 of Interpublic’s advertising, communications, and marketing services subsidiaries. Marra focuses his practice on the counseling and litigation of employment law matters including discrimination, retaliation, unemployment and workers’ compensation, and worker classification. He also regularly conducts management training, and handbook and policy audits.

Marra is a Trustee of The Calhoun School in Manhattan and serves on the school’s Executive Committee. Marra earned his J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 1995 and earlier received a B.A. in political science, with high honors, from the University of Iowa.
