Ogletree Deakins Expands Wage and Hour Class and Collective Action Capabilities, Welcomes Jeffrey Newhouse as Shareholder

RICHMOND, Va. – May 9, 2016 – Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. (Ogletree Deakins), one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, is expanding its wage and hour class and collective action capabilities by welcoming Jeffrey Newhouse as a shareholder in the firm’s Richmond office. Newhouse joins Ogletree Deakins from Hirschler Fleischer, PC, where he was a partner.

“Jeff is a gifted attorney who has established a reputation as an efficient manager of class and collective action matters, specifically independent contractor cases in the transportation arena,” said Jimmy F. Newhouse focuses his practice on representing employers involved in wage and hour class and collective action litigations under state and federal law. He regularly handles disputes related to worker classification, off-the-clock work, and overtime pay. Newhouse has served as lead counsel in numerous matters, and he also counsels clients regarding wage and hour compliance. Newhouse has litigated cases across a wide range of industries, representing product manufacturers, transportation companies, call centers, food distributors, financial institutions, insurance companies, and a futures exchange.

Virginia Super Lawyers and New York Super Lawyers magazines have both recognized Newhouse as a “Rising Star.” He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law, and his B.A., summa cum laude, from Union College.
